Its been three years since I started Blogging, and I’ve churned out around 290 posts which means an average of, something like quite a lot of posts a month, but not too many hopefully, but enough to keep some of you reading over quite a number of months and years, or anyway, more than a week.
I’ve learnt lots of stuff, but I can’t remember what it is, but I’m sure it’ll come back to me before too long, or at least before my fourth year anniversary, unless I’m banned for consistently poor use of the comma.
My Blog roll is largely a blog memorial now, as most of the people on it have started doing something else, but never mind, I have over two thousand followers on here, most of whom, for some strange reason, never visit the blog again after they’ve started following it, possibly because they think to do so would be intrusive.
With all the ups and downs I have made some good friends through blogging, and hopefully you know who you are, although I won’t name you in case you don’t know who you are: I mean that would be embarrassing wouldn’t it? I have been struck again and again by how remarkable lives are hidden behind an apparently unexceptional history, and how when challenges come before many of us, we can rise to them with extraordinary courage.
Most of all I am struck by the wealth of talent and humanity and celebration of love for those around us, and the moments which cement them to us in our lives and hope that I, in some small way, have added some richness to your world of blogging as you all have done mine.
When I started this Blog I was just jotting down my musings and reflections, and now I’ve progressed to writing and having a book published, a picture of which is on the right hand side of this Blog. I can’t remember what its about now, although some very nice people seemed to have enjoyed it.
I have been moved more times than I can recall, by some of the things I have read about on here, and made to laugh, or shake my head and experienced, through the eyes and hearts of others, almost more of life than one could possibly think was possible, but that is the beauty of Blogging. It makes so much of the extraordinary way ‘ordinary’ people go about their daily lives visible and real to other bloggers, and as such must be regarded as a great social discourse: I am proud to be part of it.

It’s great to have connected with you Ducky.. I remember what first drew me to you and it was the way you handled the challenges cropping up from your ‘girls’….now that doesn’t sound right, but you know what I mean. Nothing quite prepares you for what comes forth in Blogging Land, or this Global Village of ours, as Grandfathersky calls it. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Take care my friend and may you go on to keep entertaining us and please write more books, I loved ‘Living Life Backwards’. 🙂

Congratulations on three years of blogging! Writing is such a meaningful way to express yourself and blogging is a way to connect and inspire others. It’s also cathartic and can release a hidden creative streak that you didn’t even know you had within you! I enjoyed reading your reflections here.

I’m still here Peter, although granted, it’s not with the frequency it once was. Nothing to do with you mind you. I’ve simply run out of musings. I am grounded at home with a broken leg and while I’m beginning to find the dust collecting on my ceiling fan to be fascinating company, I doubt anyone else would. Congrats on the new book. And congrats on 3 years.

Hi Ducks. Congratulations on your three years of blogging. Your writing has enriched my life.
I bought your book weeks ago but have not been able to read very much of it because of my changing vision wrought by cornea transplant surgery. Let me explain. I had been waiting until the time I could get the best corrective lens for my “new and improved” eye. Alas, the new lens is not correcting–I think, I hope that’s because the optician did it wrong. I’ll see the doctor next week to find out.
I have for many years been reading without glasses because I’m nearsighted. Unfortunately, the surgery changed my ability to do that. Since I use an electronic reader, I usually change the font to accommodate my vision. Again, alas, I use a Nook and I couldn’t get “Living Life Backwards” on the Nook so I bought the hard copy. Only yesterday did I realize that I can borrow the kindle version through Amazon Prime and read it on my computer. Yeah, I know, I’m sometimes a little slow on the uptake.
I’m looking forward to reading it soon. I’m still glad I have the hard copy, otherwise I wouldn’t have seen and felt (I love the tactile aspect of a new book.) your beautiful book.

I’ve already found the blogging experience has opened windows all round the world and introduced me to some intriguing people. Like you, I’m a bit puzzled by the follow thing – but what the hell.

I agree. I have been blogging a bit over a year and feel all the richer for it. I believe most people get somewhat stuck in a groove in their daily walk, either afraid to spread their wings or constantly dodging people with scissors wanting to clip them. Within this magical world of cyber space, one can go anywhere, be themselves without fear and find the release from true expression that is so often lacking in everyday life. I appreciate it so much!
