Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was like a Dad to many of us and showed us all that losing faith is an option and not an inevitability, and that good men really can make a difference: his life and values made my life richer. May he, and the values he championed, be treasured always

  1. He was the proof that just one person speaking out with conviction CAN change things. My favourite quote from Mandela: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear”.
PS there’s a typo in your title.

If only more powerful people would take the attitude of “let bygones be bygones” and not feel the need for revenge, this world would be a better place. A light has indeed gone out.

  5. A lovely tribute Peter, to a very special man, (although that adjective probably wouldnt be one he would use for himself). Thank you for sharing your thoughts. What he did for us all will never be forgotten.

  10. I agree, Peter.
    A true, beautiful, authentic Hero.
Humanity is better because he was in the world.
It is now a bit diminished.

  11. So well put Peter, the world is a poorer place without him in it but would have been poorer still if he hadn’t had the courage to stand up for what he believed in. Gone but never forgotten, and well we may count our blessings.

  15. Yes, reflecting on his struggles and victories, his perseverance and FAITH is certainly a motivation to believe and act as if the world can be a better place … one individual belief and compassionate act at a time. Beautiful tribute, Peter.
