Blogging and Commitments

Many of you probably realise that “Countingducks” is not my real name. It is, for me at least, an amusing assumed name or alias. Having said that my Blog is not really anonymous because a lot of my friends and family read it, together with the dogged Albanian. In the circumstances I have to be a bit careful what I say. Anything too rash might impact on those I know and my relations with them: I’m sure you understand.

For instance if we had been to dinner with a Brenda Glennings  I could not write that her main course was fairly unpleasant, but luckily not as awful as the sweet which followed it. It might cause offence. I have  been bound up  with a few  domestic and economic issues which have demanded a lot of my time so I have been forced to neglect this important part of  my little world. I’m sure you understand. I should be back to posting more regularly from now on. Hopefully. Some  of you have been kind enough to ask after me and, believe me, I have really appreciated it.

For the record Brenda Glenning is a made up character, and  if she isn’t I’m  sure her vegetable soup with cement dumplings will improve with age.

  1. Do you have a recipe for those cement dumplings? I’m inviting some dead relatives for dinner and am rather short of ideas.

I make excellent vegetable soup but I fear I may have sent Brenda my dumpling recipe. Sorry about that.
You have been missed, bu the way.

  3. Hey, I don’t use my real name either! It’s just easier like that…
If people want to post their photos and personal info that’s fine but I think a certain level of anonymity adds to the blog. One of my blogging buddies was convinced for ages that my husband was someone famous…LOL 🙂 I was sorry I had to let her down gnetly.
Blogging is a commitment, but it can also be great fun!

Phew glad you’re back in blogland! I nearly emailed you but didn’t want to hound! Ducks don’t like hounds – as far as I know!

Like so many I blog under another name – I get so much more freedom that way to say how I truly feel. And none of my relatives know and only a couple of trusted friends! Though for the 1st time I did add in a photo of me the other day! Daring or what!

the vexed issue of the dumplings is one that clearly needs addressing. I think overnight soaking in White Spirit might perk them up – followed by ‘firing them’

But don’t rely on me I’m sure there are other ideas!

Ducks, I’m so happy you’re back. In fact, when I looked at my mail early this morning and saw “New Post” I said out loud “Woo hoo, Ducks is back!”

I, too, have to write with some degree of care because some friends and family read my blog. I think that’s probably good for me because I have a habit of blurting out whatever comes into my head. Knowing that I don’t want to harm others with my words forces me to choose them carefully. I admit, though, that there are times when I wish I had made myself invisible as so many others have done.

    Again, welcome back.

CD, you were gone? I guess I picked an excellent time to be gone too. As for the cooking, I would be no help. I know that something is done when I smell it burning, an example being the lentils I just rescued from the stovetop.

    I’ve really missed you!

I am sure if Brenda is reading this blog, she must know by now (whomever she really is) that her soup & dumplings STINK 🙂 XX

I enjoy ducks and geese as a form of entertainment and relaxation–nature is my thing–but not in the form of consumption, as I do not eat meat. However, I consume your Counting Ducks blog with a ferocity comparable to that of a duck eating stale bread thrown at its head.

Whoever you are, I adore you. Glad you’re back.
