Hidden Gems

After, “publishing” my last post this screen came up and said something like “Wizzo, this is your 70th Post” . I thought it was amazing that I’d written so many. The funny thing is that, regardless of how much or little effort I put into them, most of them are lost deep in the back catalogue so to speak and unlikely to see the light of day again.

Sometimes I come across a new Blog and read the current post. I might be lucky and hit on a day when they are either talking with some expertise on a subect which pricks my interest or are reflecting or worrying about some personal issue in a way which draws you into their story. If that happens you might glance at their tab list and see if you can find the posts which tell you more about them. .If they are like me and have no tab you sort of peer around the blog in a slight muddle before drifting off to check the current price of cabbage.   Whatever it is you keep coming back to their writings because something about them earns your attention.

So often as we know, within these Blogs we find the extra- ordinary within the ordinary. A courage unaware of itself. A Stoicism or quality of perception displayed almost casually among the bric a brac of daily observations A  reminder that human thought, honestly expressed, can be a transient beauty of nature as haunting as the  the cry of a whale

There are Blogs I have found which pull me up short and make me think this person has so much to say and remind me that a significant percentage of the great music composed will never be heard, or poems published. A  modest greatness is  lost within the archives of the blogs I find and the spiritual music they produces is partly muffled by the  authors unawareness of his/her own ability.

I blogged to begin with because I had a thought and I did’nt want to lose it as I so often did, so I scribbled it down on here. I continue blogging because out here on this dry platform I have found moments of life beautifully expressed in ways which make me reavaluate my life. To be part of that community is uplifting to me.

As in any congregation there are the strutters and self- promoters but it those others I seek out who constantly express for me the beauty of the human spirit present in the most modest of lives and keep my interest in this place constant. Long may it continue

Congratulations Peter on reaching that point in blogging where you feel so blessed to have found so much of the friendship and camaraderie that keeps many of us going.
I must say though you do a great job of remaining a bit of a mystery man. Your writing is beautiful and the air of mystery does sort of suit it. 😉

I agree with Barbara–you ARE a bit of a mystery man. I wish I could be a mystery woman :). Unfortunately, I don’t know how to pull that off. I’ve always had this “what you see is what you get” aura about me. I basically tell everything I know (well, almost) even when you don’t want that much information. I love your writing!

    • I’m amused about being a “Bit of a mystery man”. That was never my intention. I have always been more intersted in whats around me than what I’m doing: hence my appalling dress sense and lack of cooking skills but I have never had the intention of being mysterious, especially to those wose lives and comments give me so much pleasure

70 posts? Wow. I still have a long way to go, then. Haha.
I’m happy you blog, cause your writing, is something different. I’m happy I came across your blog.
Your posts always leave me thinking.
And you’re vague, but also straight to the point. I don’t know how you do it.
Anyway, congratulations, and never, ever stop writing!

I love your writings and come in search of you every day.

I feel sad on the days you don’t write anything as you have such wonderful insight.

    • Ok, It’s just getting worse now. Reading a few posts it thought it might gradually come across that I am a male of the species, happliy ensconced with a member of the opposite sex. I don’t post photographs of myself bending iron bars while cooking spagetti or mending the lawn mower with a paper-clip and a pair of pliers but there you go.

The irony here is your blog is just such a place, with just such thoughts expressed, and it is exactly why this writer subscribes.

Your post is quite lovely, as are you Ducky.

As for the fact you’re not “mending the lawn mower with a paper-clip and a pair of pliers”… so you’re *not* MacGyver? Huh. Who knew? 🙂

It was Thoreau who said “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.”. At least the blog provides a vehicle, albeit very limited, for we desperate souls to get our songs out there. We’re also lucky that we get to hear the echo of others’ songs.

As usual, your blog strikes at the heart of these things.
